After a rather long-lasting growth and euphoria due to ongoing record-highs, key indices of the American stock market collapsed on 5 February. The markets were “stormy” for the entire previous week: Tuesday saw weak growth, Wednesday registered a slight drop, whereas Thursday observed another collapse. On Friday, 9 February, the US stock market tried to stabilize. However, values of the indices were much lower than those at closing time on previous Friday, 2 February. Experts connect this sell-out of shares both with an adjustment that has already been needed for a long period of time and with higher interest rates for government bonds with stronger inflationary expectations in the background.
