FUIB joins the United Nations Global Compact initiative

First Ukrainian International Bank (FUIB) has become one of the UN Global Compact participants, which means that the Bank supports its 10 principles based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, International Labour Organisation Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, Declaration on Environment and Development, United Nations Convention against Corruption as regards sustainable business development strategy and adheres to them in its day-to-day business activities. Moreover, declaration of support for the UN Global Compact principles means the voluntary reporting on the progress of the initiatives implemented in relevant areas.

“I am pleased that more and more companies in Ukraine understand the importance of doing business in line with the best international practices of sustainable growth. All the UN initiative members receive the unique possibility to share experience and develop partner relations with governmental agencies, non-governmental organisations, and local communities all over the globe on the basis of our network,” comments Anna Danilyuk, Global Compact Network Ukraine Coordinator.

“Support for the UN Global Compact initiative is an important step of FUIB in building its corporate social responsibility system. As the large national scale bank we understand that along with our business we also bear responsibility for development of the Ukrainian society and can contribute, to the extent practicable, to settling socially important issues jointly with other companies and the government. We implement the best customer service practices and develop the financial literacy of Ukrainians by means of banking products and services, which will facilitate our country’s economic development,” says Sergey Chernenko, Chairman of the Management Board of FUIB.

UN Global Compact Network– the largest initiative of the United Nations aimed at promoting and developing the socially responsible corporate citizenship concept all over the world for the purpose of uniting the efforts to solve global problems of the mankind. Today it unites over 8 000 corporate members in the sphere of corporate social responsibility. In Ukraine the network was set up in 2006 and consists of nearly 200 companies and organisations to have publicly undertaken to fulfil 10 human rights, labour relations, anti-corruption and environmental protection principles.
