Financial markets survey 14.01.2013

Markets started the new calendar year with a good upturn. Since the beginning of the year, indices of the leading stock platforms registered growth by 2-3%.

American politicians managed to reach an agreement on the fiscal cliff on the night of Tuesday, 2 January, that is, before the first trading session in the US in 2013. This agreement is of a rather limited nature and actually postponed the decision related to measures to cut down the budget deficit for two months.

During the current week, global financial community will expect publication of financial performance indicators by a number of the leading American corporations for the fourth quarter of 2013. Also, there will be publication of many statistical indicators for the US economy.
