The dollar rate at the non-cash trading session today declined by another 4 kopecks: on Friday it lost 34 kopecks at once: from 8.88 UAH/USD to 8.54 UAH/USD.

According to the financiers, the National Bank today has participated in the trading purchasing the American currency at 8.49 UAH/USD, cheaper than on Friday (then, the purchase was made at 8.54 UAH/USD).

The low demand for foreign currency, according to the bankers, is caused not only by the uncertainty caused by the measures taken by the National Bank, but also by the hryvnia deficit that has emerged this week. The cost of short-term (overnight) resources today has reached 30-40% (only a week ago it did not exceed 2-5%). In fact, financial institutions lack the national currency for purchasing dollars.

Following the decline in the non-cash rate, the cash rate will be going down. “The cash currency market started declining on the last week Friday, there were numerous currency sale offers. This happened after the sharp drop in the interbank market rates as the result of passing the resolution of the NBU No 49. We expect that in the near future the market will stabilise, and the range of currency rates will narrow,” Anton Stadnik, Head of Treasury Division of FUIB told Vesti.
