Serhii Chernenko Named Among Ukraine’s Top Five CEOs by NV.ua
Serhii Chernenko, Chairman of the Management Board of FUIB, has been named among the top five CEOs “Keeping the Country Going,” according to the results of the study. The ranking results were announced at an awards ceremony in Kyiv.
During the first half of 2026, NV, together with Odgers Ukraine and Wellbeing Company, assessed the performance of Ukrainian business leaders. More than 200 private companies took part in the ranking, with 32 advancing to the final stage.
Executives were evaluated not only on their companies’ financial performance, but also on the quality of their leadership, their ability to operate amid uncertainty, build strong teams, and maintain business resilience during the war. The assessment consisted of four areas: business results, people, leadership, and market evaluation. The greatest weight was given to anonymous employee surveys assessing trust, care for teams, and management quality.
The organizers also took into account wartime resilience — companies’ ability to preserve jobs and production and continue operating despite the consequences of Russia’s aggression.
Based on the results of the study, Ukraine’s top five CEOs are Serhii Chernenko, CEO of FUIB; Yevhen Osypov, CEO of Kernel; Petro Rondiak, CEO of Winner Group Ukraine; Olena Vdovychenko, CEO of METRO Ukraine; and Taras Panasenko, CEO of Aurora Multimarket.
As part of the event, Serhii Chernenko also took part in the panel discussion “Anchors of Financial Stability During the Storm” alongside PrivatBank CEO Mikael Björknert. The discussion was moderated by investment banker Serhii Fursa.
The participants discussed how the war has changed approaches to bank management and risk management, new threats facing Ukrainian businesses, support for the agricultural and metals sectors, the rapid development of Ukraine’s miltech industry, prospects for the banking system after the war, and the impact of artificial intelligence on the future of the financial sector.
“Over the years of the full-scale war, we have learned to operate with a level of risk that was previously difficult to imagine. But it is important that risk management does not become a barrier to development. Ukrainian businesses continue to operate, invest and borrow, while the banking system continues to support them. We should not wait for a return to normality. We need to build strong businesses in the reality we live in today,” said Serhii Chernenko.
According to the FUIB CEO, one of the key tasks for banks today is to help businesses adapt to new wartime risks. FUIB works with its clients on debt restructuring and liquidity support. Chernenko also identified Ukraine’s miltech sector as one of the most promising areas, demonstrating an ability to adapt quickly, localize production, and continue growing even amid persistent wartime threats.
The discussion also focused on the technological transformation of banking. FUIB has already developed its own artificial intelligence implementation strategy and sees significant potential for AI in process automation, customer service, and the development of new banking products.
