At the Summit, the most powerful business projects from around the world, which implement the Sustainable Development Goals in their activities under the Young SDG Innovators program, will be presented. FUIB will represent innovators from Ukraine.

The “Recover better, Recover stronger, Recover together” Summit of Leaders of the UN Global Compact will be held on June 15-16, 2020, and be dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the largest initiative aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and supporting socially responsible companies around the world.

This year, the event will be held online for the first time, becoming available to all stakeholders. The Global Compact Leaders Summit is attended by thousands of companies and non-profit organizations that share the principles of respect for human rights, combating corruption, protection of the environment and implementing global labor standards. More than 12,000 participants from 193 countries and 21 UN agencies will take part in the event. This is the largest UN business event in its history.

At the Summit, the most powerful business projects implementing the Sustainable Development Goals in their activities under the Young SDG Innovators program will be presented. Together with participants from Bangladesh, Brazil, Great Britain, Denmark, Lebanon, Mexico, South Africa, Turkey and the USA, our innovators from Ukraine, who represent FUIB, will pitch their projects to world experts in innovation and entrepreneurship.

Twenty years ago, a platform for effective cooperation between the UN and business, now known as the UN Global Compact, was created. This initiative is a response to the challenges of the modern world, i.e. growing social inequality, labor discrimination, increasing the negative impact on the ecosystem of our planet etc.

In 2020, the world faced a new challenge - the COVID-19 pandemic. The current crisis has affected all countries and all spheres of activity. The world is forced to adapt to new conditions. And, of course, the COVID-19 pandemic has dealt a serious blow to business.

At the same time, the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has already opened up new opportunities for growth. The uniqueness of the forthcoming Summit is its openness. The anniversary summit will bring together leading representatives of business, governments, the United Nations, NGOs and the scientific community. Virtual space will help us to overcome borders between countries, social groups, national differences and join forces for a more sustainable and secure future around the world.

Creating a more inclusive economy is the main topic of a 26-hour conversation between the leaders of the UN Global Compact. Obviously, stable economic growth is impossible without the responsible use of natural resources and careful treatment of our planet. Much of the Summit focuses on climate change and finding answers to the following questions: how can business influence adaptation to climate change and prevent the planet's temperatures from rising by more than 1.5 degrees?
