As the results of a survey conducted by Research & Branding Group in February 2019 show, more than half of Ukrainians (55%) have a smartphone. Besides, they are so fond of paying with these devices that by the end of 2018, Ukraine entered the top-5 countries in the number of NFC-transactions with Mastercard cards and the top-3 among 90 countries in Central Europe, the Middle East, and Africa – with Visa cards.

NFC (Near Field Communication) is a short-range wireless communication technology that allows contactless data exchange between devices located at short distances: for example, between a terminal that reads and a mobile phone or payment card.

In Ukraine, for the first quarter of 2019, the number of contactless payments via smartphones increased by 35 times.
