From the first days of the full-scale war, FUIB has been making its contribution to the struggle for the freedom and dignity of our state. And it is not only financial. The bank helps provide units with equipment and supplies, save the lives of the wounded, integrate veterans into society, and spread Ukrainian culture and art. This year, the bank became a partner in the publication of a book by military photographers Konstantin and Vlada Lieberov — “Eyes of War.”

Kostya and Vlada Liberov took these shots in the hottest spots so that the world could look the war in the eye. The partnership with FUIB was born from a shared desire to preserve this truth. Their work was published by The New York Times, The Washington Post, Der Spiegel, and the BBC. It was these and other piercing photos that formed the basis of the book "Eyes of War."

About the book

"Eyes of War" is a documentary photo project, a book that collects 280 photographs taken by Konstantin and Vlada Liberov from 2022 to 2025, and stories dedicated to the events written by Vlada. But this is not just a collection of photographs with comments. This is a holistic artistic work that reflects the personal experience of the authors and at the same time captures the truth of the war in Ukraine.

Page after page, the book tells about the realities of war, about fear and hope, losses and choices that the authors experience together with the heroes of the photographs. This is not a chronology of events - each chapter of the book raises a separate topic: "Fight. Military", "Da Vinci", "New War", "Captivity", "Fight. Civilian", "Hope". Each chapter is like another look into the eyes of war.

The authors themselves say: "The idea of the book was born from the feeling that war is disappearing from the information space, although it has not disappeared from people's lives. The title "Eyes of War" has a personal meaning. It is not about us. We are not the eyes of war. We felt that war has its own eyes and looks at the viewer. Through our photographs, war seems to say: I exist, see me."

Partnership Mission

The book "Eyes of War" is dedicated to events that have already passed. However, its value lies in the present. In the ability to show the truth that highlights the courage, dignity and strength of Ukrainians. Both within the country and for the whole world.

The truth is easy to silence today. But it is much more difficult when like-minded people unite around it: artists, businesses, the state and citizens. Therefore, FUIB not only supported the publication of the edition; together with the authors, the bank encourages both Ukrainian and international audiences to look into "Eyes of War".

This spring, the book was first presented to an international audience at the stand of the Institute of the Ukrainian Book during one of the most important publishing events in the world - The London Book Fair. FUIB sent several copies to the funds of the British Library. At the end of May, a closed presentation of the charity edition of the book will be held in Kyiv. All 500 copies will be given to Ukrainian artists and media, libraries in different cities of Ukraine, bookstores, and representatives of veteran and military organizations.

FUIB's partnership with Kostyantyn and Vlada Liberov was born from shared values: respect for Ukrainian identity and experience, the desire for justice, and faith in the future of Ukraine. It is not for nothing that the authors dedicated the book to their son Noah — even before his birth. Because it is the courage to look the truth in the eye, faith in one's country, and the ability to unite around a common goal that build our common tomorrow — especially now, when we feel the gaze of war on ourselves.

How to buy the book
