PUMB CEO Serhiy Chernenko took part in KIEF 2025

PUMB CEO Serhiy Chernenko took part in the Kyiv International Economic Forum (KIEF) 2025 — one of the most influential platforms that brings together representatives of business, government, and the expert community to discuss key economic challenges and opportunities for Ukraine’s development.
This year, PUMB served as an Official Partner of the Forum.
During his speech at the panel discussion “IN PEOPLE WE TRUST”, dedicated to the key challenges in Ukraine’s labor market — including workforce shortages, mobilization, migration, veteran integration, and the gap between business needs and the education system — Serhiy Chernenko shared the bank’s experience in implementing socially significant initiatives, particularly in education, veteran support, and corporate culture development.
Investing in Education — Investing in the Future
Serhiy Chernenko spoke about PUMB’s long-term partnership with the Kyiv School of Economics (KSE), which has lasted for eight years. The bank supported the school during a challenging period, and today this collaboration has grown into a broader educational partnership with leading Ukrainian universities.
“We began working with KSE when the school was just recovering. Today, our total investment in education exceeds 100 million UAH, and PUMB is among the top three businesses that invest the most in education development,” — Chernenko noted.
Supporting Veterans — Contributing to Economic Recovery
The CEO also highlighted the ‘Living Forward’ veteran project, which PUMB implements together with its partners and the Kyiv School of Economics.
The program provides veterans with access to economic education, psychological support, and grants to launch their own businesses.
“We have already helped more than 300 veterans complete training and start their own businesses. This is not only about adaptation — it’s a real contribution to Ukraine’s economic growth,” — Chernenko emphasized.
Tackling the HR Challenge and Building a Strong Corporate Culture
Discussing the labor shortage in the banking sector, Serhiy Chernenko underlined the importance of automation and creating an attractive environment for employees.
“We believe in the philosophy of ‘Happy you — happy client’. When the team feels supported, it immediately translates into better customer service,” — he said.
Alongside Serhiy Chernenko, the panel featured Artur Mikhno, CEO of Work.ua; Zoya Lytvyn, founder of the public union “Osvitoria” and head of GGTC Kyiv; Tymofii Bryk, Rector of the Kyiv School of Economics; and Kyrylo Kryvolap, Co-founder of the Center for Economic Recovery and Managing Partner at Civitta Ukraine.
The discussion was moderated by Olena Frolyak, host and editor-in-chief of the “Fakty” news program on ICTV.
