Last week, global financial markets experienced a sweeping rally. Weekly growth of indices of top trading platforms exceeded two percent. The American S&P 500 Index set a new historical record-high on Friday, 18 October. Since the beginning of the year, this index grew more than 20%.
Growing capitalization of markets was mainly connected with expectations of some solution for the political crisis in the US. The US Congress passed a decision to raise the national debt limit at the very last moment on Thursday night, 17 October. Despite the long and agonizing process of making this decision, an opinion reigned on markets that US politicians will manage to avoid a default in the country. This is why the majority of indices demonstrated a gradual growth in the course of the entire previous week.
