
The National Bank and 43 partner banks, including FUIB, have launched an all-Ukrainian information campaign to promote #Cashless payments.
The goal of the campaign is to inform Ukrainians about the benefits and convenience of cashless payments. As part of the campaign, the National Bank and its partners will talk about current opportunities for widespread use of cashless payments, including how to establish a bank account, types of payment cards, online banking, how to make payments and transfers through payment websites and marketplaces using bank details and a QR-code. In addition, they will explain how NFC technology works, how to tokenize a payment card and add it to a smartphone, "smart" watch or fitness bracelet, as well as remind the basic security rules for cashless payments.
"According to a survey conducted by the National Bank in 2020, 76% of Ukrainians have used a payment card in the last year, but only 21% have used online banking. A significant percentage of citizens, having received a salary, scholarship or pension on the card, withdraw money from it at an ATM and pay in cash," said Oleksiy Shaban, Deputy Chairman of the NBU.
He added that the elder population of Ukraine needs the most support in mastering cashless payments, especially in the regions, as this topic requires skills not only of financial but also of digital literacy.
"Therefore, we expect that young people will help the older generation to get acquainted with the nuances of non-cash payments and teach them to pay for utilities online and buy online," said Oleksiy Shaban.
Thus, the #Cashless campaign has not only an educational character, but also acquires social orientation.
FUIB's Chairman of the Board Serhiy Chernenko emphasized: “FUIB is constantly working to increase the number of cashless payments by the bank's clients, develops remote service channels - Internet banking and mobile application, so that they can quickly and efficiently receive most services, offers additional benefits of online service, teaches clients how to quickly, conveniently and profitably use the bank on a smartphone. Participation in the National Bank initiative helps to accelerate positive changes in society."
For educational purposes, the National Bank is also launching a special "Cashless" (landing) web page with detailed information about the campaign and cashless payments.
The #Cashless information campaign will run for three months in all regions of Ukraine with the support of International Finance Corporation (IFC) in partnership with Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and UK Good Governance Fund, Deposit Guarantee Fund and Cyberpolice.
The campaign is a continuation of information campaigns on security of cash payments #HryvniaAnatomy and on fraud counteraction #GoodbeyFraudster.
