My Career in Ukraine: successful leaders shared their experience with teenagers from the southern regions

On May 17, FUIB, Center for Development of CSR, and Career Hub held a regional meeting in Odesa with 50 finalists of the first stage of the essay competition for tenth-graders “My Future Profession: Planning and Development”. The competition is held within the framework of the project “My Career in Ukraine”. Information partners include "Odnoklasnyk" magazine and “ZNOUA” portal.

Tenth-graders from the Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kherson, and Kirovohrad regions became participants of the last of the five regional meetings. Doctor, IT specialist, and journalist were the most common professions in the southern regions. The most unusual professions included personal web designer and spacecraft engineer.

During the discussion “Life Hacks from Leaders: How to Build a Successful Career”, participants received recommendations from guests – Andriy Omelchenko, manager of the FUIB Odesa Regional Center, Ihor Solodov, founder of the Solodov.projects training company, Denys Koltsov, director of the Odesa branch of the Arsenal insurance company, Taina Fedoseyeva, journalist of the “Mayak” online media, and Valeria Donenko, director of the human resources department at Smilefood. The teenagers learned how to understand their vocation and discuss their choice with parents, how to start working without experience and express themselves in their first job, what important qualities and skills they should develop.

Andriy Omelchenko, manager of the FUIB Odesa Regional Center, urged the teenagers to choose their professional path consciously: “Study yourself, your preferences, get acquainted with various professions and experts. This will allow you to understand earlier what is right for you and what is not. Choose a profession which you enjoy most, do not fall under the influence of others. Do not look for a good salary, but for a company that will teach you a lot. In order to succeed, you need to be open, active, and interesting people”.

After the end of the regional meeting, the teenagers visited the team of the FUIB Odesa Regional Center. They learned how money is stored and transported, how to manage your finances, and what services you can receive at the bank. And, of course, they learned how to be successful in one's profession, become the best employee, and receive an award for excellent work – an unforgettable journey.
