During the previous week, key stock indices stayed close to their record-highs. However, on Friday, they went down after financial statements of hi-tech companies were published and new quarantine restrictions were introduced across the world. Investors were focused on the inauguration of US President-elect Joe Biden forecasting new large-scale economic incentives, and the results of the ECB meeting. US Secretary of the Treasury nominee Janet Yellen is already working on another package of financial assistance.
